  1. Persian Cats are a breed of longhaired cats that are thought to have their origin in the Middle East (modern day Iran).

  3. On an average, they live to be around 19 years old and are one of the longest living domestic cat breeds.
  4. They are one of the most popular choice of cats to be kept as exotic household pets.
  5. Despite the fact that they were originated in Persia, they are now extensively bred in the United States of America.
  6. They are stickily built, medium sized cats that have short limbs and a rounded body.
  7. They are intelligent animals and are known to enjoy the companionship of humans.
  8. They have a quiet, good-natured and calm temperament.
  9. All this makes them the most common breed of domestic cats in the United States.
  10. That said, they need to be groomed regularly and need a lot of care to keep their long hair from getting matted.
