  1. Mollies are small sized fish found in the Central American rivers.
  2. They are known for their quiet and peaceful nature as well as their bright, colorful bodies.
  3. The males are more slender than the females and have a longer tail fin.
  4. They live in groups called schools, among the plants.
  5. They are a popular choice as household pets.
  6. Mollies are omnivores, feeding on small invertebrates, insects, algae and bloodworms.
  7. Their natural predators are larger fish, reptiles and aquatic birds.
  8. The female mollies give birth to live young fries and do not lay eggs.
  9. The female molly is capable of giving birth to around 100 fries at a time.
  10. The fries are born only after 2 weeks of fertilization.
  11. This raid breeding of the molly may be a factor of concern when they are kept in aquariums as pets.
