  1. Bison are one of the largest types of Cow in the world.
  2. They are still considered to be the largest land mammals existing in North America
  3. They are also known as the American Bison or American Buffalo.
  4. They are thought to be distantly related to African Buffalo and Asian Water Buffalo.

  6. They have a huge head and a bump and may be brown or tan in color.
  7. Distinctively, they have long or short shaggy hair depending on whether they inhabit cold or warm regions.
  8. Due to their size they have very few natural predators like Wolves, Bears and Cougars.

  11. Human hunting and habitat loss have brought down their numbers making them an endangered species.
