  1. The Goats are known to originate from the mountainous regions of West Asia and Eastern Europe.
  2. The modern day goats are closely related to sheep and are mostly domesticated.
  3. They are reared for their milk, meat, hair and skins.
  4. Goats are also known to be used for carrying heavy loads.
  5. The horn on the male goats is formed of keratin and may grow throughout their lives.
  6. They mostly inhabit mountainous and rocky terrains.
  7. The goats inhabiting the mountainous cliffs have a very strong hold and jump and run around small ledges.
  8. They are herbivores mainly grazing on grass.
  9. On an average they live to be around 10-15 years old.
  10. Their numerous natural predators include leopards, tigers, large reptiles and humans.
  11. Interestingly, a rare species of goat called the fainting goat freezes up, falls down and gets up after some time.
