  1. Bombay cats were bred to produce a domestic cat that looked like a panther.
  2. They are believed to be bred from the Burmese cat and a smaller short haired cat.
  3. There are two types – The American Bombay Cat and the British Bombay Cat.
  4. The American Bombay cats have spots slightly resembling the spots of a leopard.
  5. Distinctively, Bombay cats have black fur with orange or green eyes.
  6. The color of their eyes differs depending on the sub-species.
  7. They have a long narrow body with small heads.
  8. They are very clever and active, which makes them quite successful as hunters.
  9. They are extremely intelligent with high energy levels.
  10. Their personality traits are quite similar to the Burmese Cats in being excitable and affectionate.
  11. All these make them a very popular choice of domestic cats.
