  1. Chihuahuas are extremely small sized dogs, native to Mexico.
  2. They grow to an average size of 23cm and weigh around 2.7kg.
  3. On an average, they live to be around 18 years old.
  4. They are best known for their curious personality and easy adaptability.
  5. They are fiercely devoted and affectionate to their owners.
  6. Though high strung, with proper training and socialization, they make excellent companions.
  7. They are very clever and are quick to learn commands and can be trained to perform tricks.
  8. Interestingly, they have this unique trait of burrowing into blankets to sleep.
  9. This could lead to someone inadvertently, sitting or stepping on a sleeping Chihuahua under the covers.
  10. Their tendency to burrow while sleeping could be because, pre-domesticated Chihuahuas inhabited underground burrows.
  11. Their tendency to bite when frightened along with their size and temperament makes them unsuitable as children’s pets.
