  1. Piranhas are freshwater fish found in South America.
  2. There inhabit the fast slowing rivers and streams that flow through the South American Jungles.
  3. They live in large shoals and are known to constantly be fighting for food.
  4. So much so that feeding frenzies have been triggered due to lack of food especially blood.
  5. They are best known for their taste for blood, and are known to have a row of very sharp teeth.

  8. Their natural predators are crocodiles, river dolphins, larger fish, turtles and birds.
  9. Though humans of more scared of Piranhas than sharks, they hunt them for food.
  10. They breed during the months of April and May in slower waters.
  11. They are known to mate in pairs and also prepare a nest as a pair.
  12. The female piranha lays around 5,000 eggs in that nest and both the parents fiercely guard the eggs that hatch after a few days.
