  1. The Bichon Frise is a breed of small dogs having their origin in France.
  2. They belong to the group of gun dogs.
  3. They are known to be descendants of Barbet or Water Spaniels and hence were named as Barbichon (later shortened to Bichon).
  4. They are broadly divided in 4 categories- The Bichon Malteise, The Bichon Bolognaise, The Bichon Havanese and the Bichon Tenerife.
  5. All these Bichons are known to be originated in the Mediterranean Area.
  6. Bichon Frise is a small, sturdy dog with a black nose and dark round eyes.
  7. Its white coat has a curly outer coat and a silky undercoat.
  8. The most prominent personality trait of Bichon Frise is their cheerful attitude.
  9. They enjoy socializing with people and other dogs and make for wonderful family dogs.
  10. Interestingly, with a sudden burst of energy, they are known to run around in circles till they happily collapse on their backs.
  11. They need to be trained from an early age because of their hyperactive nature.
  12. A well-bred Bichon fries is affectionate, sensitive, feisty, playful and gentle mannered.
