  1. Havanese dogs are small sized dogs, known to have their origin in Cuba.
  2. They belong to the group of gun dogs.
  3. They grow to an average size of 25cm and weigh only around 5kg.
  4. On an average, they live to be around 15 years old.
  5. They are a breed which belongs to the Bichon type.
  6. Interestingly, the Havanese dogs do not shed.
  7. They are believed to be developed from the Bichon Tenerife, which is now extinct.
  8. Bichon Tenerife, the Havanese ancestors, were introduced to the Canary Islands by the Spanish.
  9. Then later they were introduced to other Spanish islands and colonies by sailors.
  10. They are best known for they playful temperament.
  11. They are also known to get along well with older, considerate children.
  12. They need to be trained by an experienced trainer from a very early age.
