  5. Their average lifespan is around 12 years.
  6. They are Active, calm, friendly and protective towards their family.
  7. They are also known to be lively, high spirited and suspicious of strangers.
  8. They were initially used for general farm work.
  9. Now sometimes they are used as mountain rescue dogs.
  10. The female Appenzeller Dog gives birth to 6 puppies per litter.
