  1. Neapolitan Mastiffs are large sized dogs which are native to Italy.
  2. As their name suggests, they belong to the group of mastiffs.
  3. They grow to an average size of around 70cm and weigh around 74kg.
  4. On an average, they live to be around 10 years old.
  5. They are very protective of their master and their family and are quite fearless.
  6. They are not the ones to wander off and always prefer to be with their families in their homes.
  7. They are extremely wary of strangers and are known to sneak up to intruders rather than alerting them by barking.
  8. They only accept the strangers if they feel that their master is comfortable and relaxed around them.
  9. They do not bark unless they are provoked.
  10. Though they are quick learners, they are also quite stubborn by nature.
  11. They need to be trained from a very early age to establish clarity as to who is the master.
  12. They are extremely dominant and in the absence of firm handling may end up becoming the masters.
  13. Properly trained Neapolitan mastiffs, obey their masters once they understand what is expected of them.
