  1. Chinstrap Penguins are small penguins found in the islands of the Antarctic Ocean.
  2. Distinctively, they have a thin, black line running under their chin on their white face.
  3. They get their name from the distinctive mark on their chins.
  4. Chinstrap Penguins congregate together in colonies of millions on small islands in Antarctica.
  5. The swim in the water hunting for food and come to land to breed, rest and escape their predators in water.
  6. They are carnivores feeding on fish, crabs, squid, shrimp, squid and krill.
  7. They have their natural predators in leopard seals, killer whales and sharks.
  8. They make a nest made of stone on the rocky islands.
  9. After breeding, the female chinstrap penguin lays 2 eggs in the nest.
  10. The eggs are incubated by both the parents for about a month, till they hatch.
  11. The penguin chicks stay in the nest for about a month.
  12. The chicks are fed in the nest by both the parents who hunt and bring food from the ocean.
  13. On an average, they live to be around 15-20 years old.
