  1. Jack Russels are small sized dogs, native to Germany.
  2. They belong to the Terrier family of dogs.
  3. They grow to an average size of 25cm and weigh around 4kg.
  4. On an average, the Jack Russel lives to be around 16 years old.
  5. They are working terriers which were initially bred to bolt fox from their dens.
  6. They are used to quarry ground-dwelling animals from their dens during hunting.
  7. Jack Russels have been used to hunt badgers, groundhogs, grey fox and red fox.
  8. They help by locating the quarry on earth and then either hold it in place till it is dug or bolt the animal out.
  9. They do this successfully by barking and working the quarry continuously.
  10. They are extremely intelligent and fearless dogs.
  11. They are also known to be very vocal and athletic.
  12. They have a tendency to become destructive and moody if they are not adequately exercised or stimulated.
  13. They also get bored very easily and may entertain themselves in their own way.
