  1. Antelopes are deer-like mammals found in Africa, Asia and parts of America.
  2. There are various species of Antelopes.
  3. They have strong permanent horns which are used for defense and fighting.
  4. Their average lifespan is between 8 to 10 years.
  5. They are medium-sized mammals which play a significant role in the African Food chain.
  6. Africa’s large carnivores like Lions, Hyenas and Crocodiles predate on Antelopes.
  7. They adopt various defense techniques depending on their species, habitat and numbers.
  8. Which range from hiding to running and leaping to pronking to diving in to vegetation.
  9. They inhabit woodlands, forests, savannah, grassland plains and marshes.

  12. The newborn calf and the mother are vulnerable to predators.
  13. Interestingly. the Royal Antelope is a tiny species which are as tall as rabbits!.
