  1. There are around 2700 species of snakes found in the world.
  2. They are carnivores feeding on different animals (depending upon the species)
  3. They are solitary reptiles that come together only during the mating season.
  4. They are known to mate during the spring season.
  5. The Polar regions are extremely cold for the snakes to inhabit.
  6. Despite this, there are some species of snakes which inhabit colder regions of the northern hemisphere.
  7. These snakes are known to hibernate through the winters.
  8. The snakes may grow anywhere between 10cm to 30ft in length!.
  9. Anaconda is the largest species of snake which is known to grow up to 30ft long.
  10. Interestingly, the snakes kill their prey in two ways.
  11. One is by injecting venom in their prey through their bite.
  12. The other is to kill the prey by wrapping itself around the prey and constricting it.
  13. On an average the snake lives to be around 30 years old.
