  1. The Mouse is a small rodent found across the world.
  2. There are around 40 different species of mouse found worldwide.
  3. Depending on the species they differ in size and color.
  4. They have soft feet with sharp toenails enabling them to climb and hold things.
  5. Their foot structure helps them run backward into their burrows as a defense mechanism.
  6. They have 16 sharp teeth to hold and chew their food.
  7. They are known to have a quiet temperament and are kept as pets by certain people.
  8. Though they are not easy to examine, they are extensively used for scientific research.
  9. They can be quite harmful pests damaging crops and spreading diseases through their parasites and feces.
  10. Interestingly, it is believed that domestic cats were kept as pets to drive away the pest problems of mice.
  11. Female mice give birth to a litter of around 6 baby mice, called pups, after a short gestation.
  12. The pups are born with their eyes and ears closed and with no hair.
  13. The mice have their numerous predators in small birds, mammals and reptiles.
  14. They are herbivores and like to feed on fruits.
