  1. The Indochinese Tigers are a sub-species of tiger found in South-East Asia.
  2. They are also known as the Corbett’s tiger.
  3. They are found mostly in Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Burma and Vietnam.
  4. They mostly inhabit secluded forests in the mountainous regions and are very difficult to study
  5. They are medium sized species of tigers growing between 2.3m and 2.8m in length.
  6. They typically have orange fur with black stipes and white abdomen.
  7. They are the dominant predators in their environment.
  8. They ae known to prey on large mammals like deer, wild boar, cattle and goats.
  9. Their hunting style typically involves stalking their prey till the prey is caught unawares.
  10. Their size and power ensures that there are no natural predators of the Indochinese tigers.
  11. Humans are known to hunt them, though.
  12. The female Indochinese tiger gives birth to around 5 cubs after a 3-4-month gestation.
  13. The newborn cubs are blind and are dependent on their mothers for the first 18 months.
  14. Habitat loss, deforestation and human poaching have made them an endangered species today.
  15. They are believed to be extinct in the Chinese wilderness from 2007.
