  1. Fennec Fox are the smallest species of fox in the world.
  2. They are found in the arid, sandy regions of Sahara Desert in Africa.
  3. Distinctively, they have large, pointed ears which may be as long as half their body length.
  4. Their large ears help them regulate their body heat and keep them cool during the hot days.
  5. The fennec fox may grow from 24cm to 41cm in length.
  6. They also have very long tails which may range from 18cm to 31cm depending on the individual’s size.
  7. They have thick fur which helps them be cool in daytime and keeps them warm during cold nights.
  8. They live in small communities, comprising around 10 individuals.
  9. Fennec foxes are nocturnal animals, sleeping in their burrows by the day and hunting at night.
  10. They are omnivores feeding on insects, rodents, small reptiles, eggs, plants and fruits.
  11. Their fur is of sandy color which helps them camouflage while hunting and stay unseen from predators.
  12. The fennec fox has its natural predators in hyenas, eagles and humans.
  13. Though they are capable of breeding twice a year, most of them breed only once, yearly.
  14. The female fennec fox gives birth to around 3-4 kits.
  15. The kits feed on their mother’s milk for a month and then slowly start hunting with their mother.
